Our Garden

Evie and I are growing some romaine lettuce, green onions and garlic.  Today I picked 3 green onions and we cut them up and put them into my salad.  I told her she probably wouldn’t like them but she should try one since we grew it ourselves.  I gave her a green stem of one and she tasted it.  Her eyes got wide and she said:

“I really thought you were gonna be very, very right but these are actually quite tasty!”

Briggely Brownies

Evie gave me this recipe for Briggely Brownies: Flatty Fish, Egg Shells, Jiggly Wiggly Pudding, Eggs and Dashing Dooberries.

“You stir it (add some water so it’s easier to stir it), put it in a brownie pan and then into the oven.  Then when it comes out, you have Briggely Brownies.  Then you add a hint of Dashing Dooberry juice”.

A few minutes later, she’s going “Oh, no.  It was supposed to be two hints of Flatty Fish.  Now I have to start over.”  She worked on making this recipe over and over for quite awhile, adjusting the recipe with additional hints of this and that.

Later, Dad came by and she told him the recipe but at this point it was 2 hints of Jiggly Wiggly Pudding.   I said “2 hints of Jiggly Wiggle Pudding?.  That’s not what you said earlier.  Maybe that’s why you had to do it over again.”

She said “Well, I thought I knew what I was doing!?”

Pop Tart Person

I usually break Evie’s Pop Tart into 3 pieces.  I gave it to her today and she rearranged them into this and said:

“Look, Nana.  My Pop Tart has a smiley face!”

We brought Dad in to show him and she told him “It’s a Pop Tart person and he’s excited.”

Caring For Baby

We were on our way to the library and Evie’s gathering up her stuff.  She told me she was going to get her baby some stuff she’d need for the trip.  She came back and told me:

“I decided not to take the pacifier because the baby decided not to be annoying”.

Puttin’ On The Ritz

We watched Fred Astaire dance to Puttin’ On the Ritz this morning.  The song was stuck in my head and I doo-di-dooted it to the point where you would say ‘Puttin’ On The Ritz’ and was trying to get Evie to say it.  At one point I told her she was sposta say it, you know, like when we do I Lost My Tractor.  So I doo-di-dooted one more time, got to the pivotal moment, pointed to her and she said:

“I lost my tractor!”

and started cracking up knowing that she’d made a really funny joke.

Babysitting

Evie had me watch one of her babies while she and the ‘rents went to Walmart.  Before she left, she brought me some stuff I’d need to take care of the babies.  Pictured from left to right are a cup of ‘water’, some ‘food’, and an ‘extra bottle of water’.  She put it in a ‘carrying case’ so it would be “easy to find when you need it.” (The heart is the carrying case.)
