Reminders

Several weeks ago we went to a restaurant and the waitress told Evie she reminded her of her daughter.  Today we went to the same place and Evie asked me if that was ‘the girl’.  I wasn’t sure what she was asking so I told her that yeah, that was the girl who had just waited on us.  Apparently she meant the one we had last time cuz she said:

“Well, she reminds me of her daughter!”

Big World

We were in the car and got to talking about her Aunt who may be coming to see us in February.  Evie went on and on about all the stuff she wanted to show her.  I told her that was a whole lot of stuff.  Her reply?

“It’s a big, wide world waiting for her!”

The Monica Gene

I’ve been teasing the ‘rents lately that Evie really is my granddaughter cuz she has the Monica Gene. Like when we go to the library she has to clean up the mess the other kids leave before she plays. Or when I gave her the bag of stuff to ‘take’ to the bathroom and she puts it all away instead. And she’s been doing a fantastic job keeping her new room clean making sure everything gets put in its place. She told me tonight that her new Christmas headphones didn’t have a spot yet and I pointed out an empty pink bin. She said she was using that one as her trash. I told her I’d get her a trash can at Walmart tomorrow. She ran off to tell Mama the ‘exciting news’.  When she came back, she put her hands on her hips, looked around the room and said:

“OK, now let’s think about where to place it!”

First ‘E’ On Paper

Evie was practising her writing, making loops per Dad when I asked her if she remembered how to make an E.  I don’t know what I expected because it’s been ages and ages since I taught her the saying.  But without any hesitation she said:

“Yeah, one down, one across, one on the top and one in the middle.”

I laughed and told her she should try to do it.  She produced one and then decided since Dad’s birthday was ‘all around the corner’ she would give the paper she’d been writing on to him as a card.  She got an envelop from me, drew a stamp on it and gave it to him.  She then told us she had tried to seal it but couldn’t.  We showed her how so now he had to pretend he didn’t get it.  She left the room, did some stuff and then re-gave it to him.  She told Dad she had tried to ‘mail’ it thru the slots in the laundry room door but it didn’t work so she’d ‘mailed’ it under the door.  Too precious.
